Fan-Tastic Cards & Comics (aka the Fan-Tastic Shop) exists for one reason: to make collecting feel fun, welcoming, and worth coming back to.

After years spent toiling away in cube forests and health care, we finally got to chase a lifelong dream: opening our very own card and comic shop in Asheville. And honestly? We’re still just as excited.

Today, we’re proud to be a community-first shop for Pokémon (including Japanese imports), sports cards, comics, graphic novels, kawaii collectibles, and supplies—built on trust, education, and relationships over hype.

What you’ll find here (and who it’s for)

We’ve designed the shop to be accessible to every level of collector—from dollar bin treasures to plastic-encased gems.

If you’re brand new, we’ll help you get oriented. If you’ve been collecting forever, we’ll talk comps, condition, and the fun details.

• Expert guidance (grading, preservation, and how to buy with confidence)
• A welcoming vibe for collectors of all ages and backgrounds
• If we don’t have what you’re looking for, we’re happy to try to order it for you

Asheville helped shape Fan-Tastic into what it is today: a shop that’s upscale but approachable, built around trust and community.

Bringing in the good stuff (without losing our values)

The hobby changes fast. Our goal has always been to keep up in a way that benefits collectors—not scalpers.

Over time, we’ve expanded access to the products people actually want, while keeping our standards high for quality and customer experience.

One example we’re especially proud of: becoming one of the first stores in Western North Carolina to carry Japanese Pokémon. We love Japanese sets for their artwork, quality, and collector appeal—and we’re excited to keep bringing in options you can feel good about.

Hurricane Helene: the hard season that proved what we’re made of

In October/November 2024, Hurricane Helene hit our community hard.

It was a difficult season—personally and as a small business. But it also reminded us why we started Fan-Tastic in the first place: community.

We kept showing up, kept rebuilding, and kept moving forward. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who checked in, shopped with us, shared our posts, and helped us come back stronger.

Beyond Asheville (while keeping the heart of the shop here)

Fan-Tastic is rooted in Asheville—but our collector community reaches farther than one city.

We’ve also expanded our hockey card singles business out of Canada, helping connect collectors with the cards they’re chasing while staying true to our core approach: be honest, be helpful, and handle items with the care we’d want for our own collections.

So we want to show you that we’re YOUR biggest fan by offering the best customer service possible. We want you to feel valued and appreciated at our shop (and in life—but that’s a tad beyond our scope).
